BICAR has three tires, an electric drive and a windshield that protects passengers from the weather. It is particularly safe and can be driven without a helmet. With a maximum speed of 45 kilometres per hour, the company behind BICAR is working to offer a car-sharing concept that will reduce individual urban traffic.
The startup, which is a spin-off of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), has now succeeded in raising new funds from Urs Horat, founder of the globally successful Compona AG, a specialist distributor for connector products. BICAR is also supported by two EU development projects, which aim to bring the vehicle closer to market release and ensure that it meets the requirements for EU approval.
According to a statement, Share your BICAR AG is also in talks with various Swiss and European cities, which are looking for space-saving, environmentally friendly mobility solutions. Several Swiss firms and transport companies have already concluded partnerships to offer sharing services.
The startup now hopes to bring in additional investments with the goal of obtaining approval for road traffic in 2019 and carrying out test projects in 2020.
