Solothurn/Grenchen - The Solothurn-based plant manufacturer Infotech will start building its new headquarters in Grenchen on April 5. The high-tech firm is set to more than double its office and assembly space at the new site. The sustainable building is being constructed by SSM Architects from Solothurn.

Infotech Automation is relocating from Solothurn to Grenchen. The plot for a large new facility at the new industrial park on Lebernstrasse was purchased a few days ago, and the building permit has already been granted. Construction work is set to begin on April 5, and this should be completed within the space of 18 to 24 months. The company discussed the project for an article in the “Grenchner Tagblatt” of the newspaper “Solothurner Zeitung”, which has been published on its website.

Infotech designs, manufactures and implements highly automated production systems, primarily for the production of semiconductor power electronics. Instead of the previous area of 4,400 square meters, a total of 9,600 square meters of office and production space will be available across three floors of the company’s new headquarters.

The company, which is considered to be a “hidden champion” and is growing continually, could potentially even add another story to the building at a later date. According to the information, the building planned by SSM Architects in Solothurn will be largely glazed. The material regulates light transmission properties by itself. Heating and cooling are to be provided via geothermal probes supplied by rooftop photovoltaic systems.

According to Ernest Fischer, co-founder, CEO and shareholder of Infotech, the secret to his company’s success lies in the quality, innovation, support and, without exception, customer-specific developments that are offered: “Customer expectations must be exceeded in every possible way. We are usually the most expensive when it comes to our quotes and yet our customers remain loyal to us”, he claims. The company is currently in the process of recruiting staff across all departments. mm
