Swiss Re’s subsidiary iptiQ and IKEA have created and launched home insurance together. In future, the Swedish furniture manufacturer’s customers will be able to digitally take out policies that are tailored to their country. This service is initially being introduced in Switzerland and Singapore.

On Tuesday, iptiQ and IKEA announced the launch of Hemsäker home insurance. It will be offered in Switzerland and Singapore initially. The insurance aims to be affordable, easily accessible and simple to understand. According to a press release, it can be taken out online on IKEA’s website in a matter of minutes. In Switzerland, it is available on insurance.ikea.ch.

iptiQ is a wholly owned subsidiary of the reinsurance provider Swiss Re from Zurich, which develops individual insurance solutions for companies. Andreas Schertzinger, CEO of iptiQ states: “We are thrilled to be partnering with IKEA to offer HEMSÄKER to consumers – a tailored home insurance that can be purchased with a few clicks using any digital device. By combining our state-of-the-art digital platform iptiQ with IKEA’s customer access, we provide peace of mind to more people.”

Jessica Anderen, CEO of IKEA Switzerland, says that security and privacy are two reasons why people feel at ease at home, adding: “With HEMSÄKER, we are proud to offer home insurance for the first time, thanks to our insurance partner iptiQ.” This new service has been incorporated into IKEA’s offering. iptiQ is providing the insurance service and is responsible for managing all associated customer contacts.
