Kemiex has been awarded a GDP certificate for good distribution practice. This is the first time that Swissmedic (the Swiss authority responsible for the authorization and supervision of therapeutic products) has awarded this seal of quality to an internet platform. Since being founded in 2017, the Zurich-based start-up has been transformed into a leading online B2B marketplace for trading active ingredients, vitamins and other supplements in the pharmaceutical, food and animal feed industries.
In a press release, Kemiex refers to the revision of the Swiss Therapeutic Products Act (TPA) that entered into force at the beginning of this year. This piece of legislation now explicitly recognizes brokers, agents and internet platforms as distribution forms and has defined clear licensing requirements. Following a review of quality control processes, Swissmedic has awarded a GDP certificate to Kemiex. “We expect the European Union and the USA to follow such a proactive approach to accentuate regulation for brokers, agents and internet platforms”, the start-up commented.
Just a few days later, Kemiex also received the prestigious CPhl Pharma Award 2019 for Innovation in der category of Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Distribution. In the press release, Kemiex conveyed its pride at receiving recognition for the pioneering role it has played in terms of innovations for trading raw materials such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), vitamins and amino acids in addition to other nutritional and animal feed supplements.
