Netstal - The gears and transmissions specialist Sauter Bachmann is investing in the expansion of its services across development, production and maintenance. The expansion will be particularly beneficial for customers in the field of unmanned and alternative aviation systems.

In 2024, the Swiss family-owned company Sauter Bachmann, which is based in Netstal in the canton of Glarus, has initiated a series of investment projects aimed at providing customers with even more comprehensive support in terms of vertical integration, according to a statement.

Drawing on over a hundred years of experience in the field of gears, gear boxes and complete drive systems, Sauter Bachmann is a system partner for customers from fields including the aerospace industry. The company supports clients throughout the entire life cycle of products and now wants to further strengthen this service.

On the one hand, the company is investing in engineering expertise, which will facilitate new services. “We are also creating a competence centre for NADCAP-certified special processes,” Managing Director Max Bachmann is quoted as saying.

The industry-managed global system NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) provides standardized accreditation for aerospace processes within the supply chain. Sauter Bachmann intends to expand its NADCAP-certified processes in areas such as heat treatment. According to the statement, the company's expertise includes coordinating a complex global supply chain.

The expansion of the service portfolio is particularly relevant for manufacturers of unmanned and alternative aviation systems. Sauter Bachmann combines its experience as an industrial manufacturer of precision gears and gearboxes with that of an aviation-certified manufacturing and maintenance company. The medium-sized company can demonstrate agility when responding to the intensive design and development phases that are part of the dynamic field of aviation systems. Sauter Bachmann will be exhibiting at ILA Berlin, an aerospace trade fair taking place June 5-9, 2024. ce/yvh
