Location and traffic optimization are the core business of Zurich company Senozon. It was reported in a press release that those who wish can now order a free map online that shows certain postcode areas where pedestrians spend a lot of time over the course of a day. It also includes a map of pedestrian frequencies for individuals aged between 18 and 65 with medium to high household income.
The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) receives many requests for specific locations and this free product now provides the answers: “In these times of coronavirus, it is even more important for retailers and their advisors to choose locations carefully. With our maps, we are helping them in this process,” said Senozon’s Chief Sales Officer Phillip Kousz.
Senozon also offers other products, subject to a charge, that cover several postcode areas, the absolute frequency of pedestrian traffic, other sociodemographic factors, frequencies over the course of a day and catchment areas. The simulation not only enables analysis of the present situation, but also precise forecasts for the future.
Senozon primarily uses publicly available statistical data to generate the models. It then augments them with real measured values as a comparison. Sources include traffic counts, apps and statistics from Google and telecoms providers. The greatest benefit of the method is that it covers the population of a country complete with sociodemographic information. “For the first time, this enables target-group specific evaluations and studies with full anonymity.”
