Zurich/Winterthur/Bern – ANYbotics, bestsmile and reCIRCLE have been crowned the winners of this year’s Swiss Economic Awards. They impressed the jury with their autonomous robots, 3D printing techniques and reusable packaging.

Winning start-ups at Swiss Economic Forum

The Swiss Economic Forum (SEF) has crowned three startups as the winners of this year’s Swiss Economic Awards. In addition to prize money of 25,000 Swiss francs each, the winners will receive access to the unique SEF network.

Two of this year’s winners are from the canton of Zurich, namely ANYbotics from Zurich and bestsmile from Winterthur. ANYbotics specializes in autonomous robots. In ANYmal, the spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) has developed a robot that can see hear and even open doors, for example. It has already completed its first test run in Zurich’s sewerage system. It is hoped that the robot will be able to carry out dangerous work down there autonomously in future.

A 3D printing technique has been developed by bestsmile that enables transparent braces to be produced for the mass market. These are cheaper than those created by traditional orthodontics.

The third winner is reCIRCLE from Bern. The startup has developed the world’s first large-area, reusable system for takeaways.
