Changsha – The canton of Schaffhausen has signed a partnership agreement with the Chinese province of Hunan. The aim is to strengthen economic and political exchange.

The agreement should expand relations between Schaffhausen and China and better position the economic location of Schaffhausen in China, explained a statement.

In future, both partners will work together more closely on issues such as economic development, environmental technology, health and location promotion.

The primary goal is to increase the investment of Chinese companies in Schaffhausen and improve the sales potential of companies from Schaffhausen in China.

Experts from both countries will discuss the issue of sustainability. Alongside representatives from the administration, Schaffhausen businesses will contribute their experiences.

The new agreement was signed during a ceremony in Changsha, the capital of the province of Hunan.

The Schaffhausen delegation attended the event, as did the Swiss ambassador to China, Jean-Jaques de Dardel. State councillor Rosmarie Widmer Gysel invited the Chinese delegation to a return visit.

The canton of Schaffhausen established relations with Hunan four years ago. Since then, different official delegations have visited Schaffhausen.
