With its new fabric sampling tool “heiq it!”, HeiQ is helping to speed up innovation development in the textile industry. The online fabric configuration platform offers fabric managers a range of fabric types and structures from HeiQ’s fabric library. In a second step, the fabric can be enhanced by various textile technologies from the Greater Zurich Area company, such as dynamic cooling, advanced UV protection and durable odour control.
The customer can also choose between ordering dozens of meters of the fabric sample or ready-to-test articles of clothing. HeiQ is collaborating with a range of fabric manufacturing mills in Italy to produce the fabric samples, as well as with E. Schellenberg Textildruck/Greuter Jersey in Fehraltorf in the canton of Zurich.
With the new tool, fabric samples can be provided within just two weeks. Until now, it has taken up to three months from first contact to receiving the fabric sample. According to an HeiQ statement, long sample verification times can hinder the possibility of showcasing new innovations in a timely fashion.
HeiQ surveyed dozens of fabric managers at textile manufacturers to get an insight into their daily processes and develop a solution to this problem. It is currently presenting its new tool at the ISPO sporting goods and clothing trade fair in Munich, which runs until Wednesday.
HeiQ is a spin-off of the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.
