The Zurich-headquartered startup Sleepiz has won a new Digital Health Award for startup companies. At the “Digital Health – die Zukunft ist jetzt” symposium on the future of digital healthcare at the Kantonsspital St.Gallen (KSSG), the startup impressed both the jury and the audience, according to startupticker.ch. A year ago, the website announced that Sleepiz had been named “Europe’s most promising digital health startup”.
Sleepiz’ non-contact sleep monitoring device measures vital parameters such as breathing, heart rate and movement according to medical quality standards. It uses neither electrodes nor cables or cameras to monitor sleep disorders. The startup company has already conducted several pilot studies and won a number of awards, and has received support from the EU programme Horizon 2020 and Innosuisse.
Six startups were in the running for the award at the symposium in St.Gallen. They “impressively showcased the strength of regional innovation”, according to the statement. Jury member and head physician Martin Brutsche said the prize should be awarded in the coming years. He commented: “By awarding the ‘Digital Health Vadian’, we want to help support and drive innovative ideas on digital health.”
