Update on coronavirus (COVID-19): Click here for the current situation in Switzerland by the Federal Office of Public Health.
The investment promotion agency Greater Zurich Area Ltd (GZA) and its partners supported 103 companies from abroad in setting up a business in the nine cantons of the Greater Zurich Area in 2019, 21 fewer than in the previous year. The decline reflects the shrinking market in Europe and Switzerland. However, the new companies have created 651 jobs this year (+40% compared with 2018) and plan to create 1,676 (+24%) new jobs in the next five years. The coronavirus epidemic is severely restricting GZA's promotional and acquisition activities and is likely to further increase the decline in investment projects.
The full press release on GZA's annual result 2019 is available in German.
