The University of Zurich (UZH) and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (pictured) have entered into a strategic partnership according to a press release. The aim is “long-term and multi-level networks between the two institutions.” Digitalization in medicine has been chosen as the first key issue. For example, a health app and its use in health care is the focus of a joint project.
Researchers from the Medical Faculty of UZH and Charité are already collaborating in over twenty joint research projects. Additionally, there is a student exchange arrangement. According to the information provided, Charité prepares around 8,000 students for clinical practice and the Medical Faculty of UZH about 3,800.
Beatrice Beck Schimmer, Vice President Medicine at UZH, is quoted, saying: “The partnership with Charité brings together two successful medical faculties in a mutually beneficial relationship.” Additionally, the scientific ties between Zurich and Berlin will be strengthened further. The University of Zurich also has partnerships with Freie Universität and Humboldt-Universität, among others.
