Schlieren/Lund - Proteomedix has entered into a strategic partnership with the Swedish firm Immunovia. The two companies both specialize in the area of cancer diagnostics and now intend to collaborate for research and development as well as commercialization activities.

Immunovia, a Swedish cancer diagnostics company, and Proteomedix AG from Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, which also specializes in this field, are joining forces in the area of research and development in addition to commercialization activities, further details of which can be found in a press release. Immunovia is headquartered in the Swedish city of Lund and focuses on the early detection of pancreatic cancer with its IMMray PanCan-d test. For its part, Proteomedix has developed the prostate cancer test by the name of Proclarix.

According to the press release, Immunovia and Proteomedix are keen to leverage their joint development experience in the field of diagnostic technologies for the detection of cancer. Through this partnership, Immunovia will benefit from a more flexible and productive research and development (R&D) organization, allowing it to focus its internal resources on bringing IMMray PanCan-d to market.

Like Proteomedix, Immunovia is in the early stages of the commercial development process for a diagnostic oncology test, according to Helge Lubenow, CEO of Proteomedix. “For Proteomedix, this partnership demonstrates how our biomarker assay development expertise can be deployed beyond prostate cancer”, she adds.

“Immunovia is entering a new phase with an increased focus on the commercialization of our IMMray PanCan-d test in the US while maximizing our R&D productivity. This partnership with Proteomedix will combine leading proteomics-based researchers with state-of-the art capabilities from both companies to create an outstanding R&D platform”, comments Philipp Mathieu, CEO and President of Immunovia, in the press release.

Proteomedix is a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and is headquartered at the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich
