Schlieren ZH/Bangalore - The biotech company InSphero from the Greater Zurich Area has entered into a partnership with the biotech supplier Bionova Supplies. The agreement is intended to expand the distribution of Akura and Spheroid microplates for cell research to India.

The Schlieren-based biotech company InSphero is now offering its Akura and Spheroid microplates for cell research in India. To facilitate distribution, it has signed a distribution agreement with the Bangalore-based distributor of biotechnology and scientific instruments Bionova Supplies, according to a statement. The agreement makes the patented Akura 96 and 384 Spheroid microplates available to researchers in the Indian market.

The plates are used for the reproducible production, cultivation and examination of 3D spheroids, such as cell collections, and tissue. They are used for testing purposes in drug research. InSphero's industrial-grade solutions will help Indian researchers accelerate their innovative work, according to Frauke Greve, senior product manager at InSphero. “The Akura Plate Formats, engineered specifically for 3D cultures of spheroids and organoids, simplify aggregation and handling of spheroids and organoids and facilitates integration of 3D models into cell-based assay workflows,” said Greve.

“Building positive relationships in business is one of the most important foundations for success. It gives us an immense pleasure to have InSphero on board with their complete range of 3D Cell culture solutions,” commented Sandeep C, managing partner at Bionova. “Through the extended partnership with InSphero, Bionova is further unlocking the world of 3D cell culture to the Indian customers.”

InSphero is a spinoff from the University of Zurich (UZH) and the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). It is headquartered in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich. ce/gba
