Ypsomed is investing around 15 million Swiss francs in Solothurn. The funds will be used to build a conference and culture center opposite the new main entrance to Ypsomed’s building. The medtech company with headquarters in Burgdorf has entrusted the project planning and implementation to phalt Architekten AG.
Ypsomed CEO Simon Michel commented in a press release on his speech announcing the plans: “We have created more than 400 new jobs in Solothurn over the past ten years and want to grow further. We are also investing here because we have experienced ideal support from the town.” Michel adds that the company hopes that the forum will “give something back to the town of Solothurn and its inhabitants.” The planned Ypsomed center will be available for rent for public events.
The new building will be five stories high with a two-storey car park. A reception and auditorium are planned for public events. Additionally, Ypsomed plans to plant up the spaces between the center and the company’s own building and design this as a meeting area.
Mayor of Solothurn Stefanie Ingold remarked on the conference and culture center’s enhancement of the district during the event announcing the plans. She added in the press release that Ypsomed had developed Solothurn as a science location. The international Bern-based medtech company specializes in infusion and injection systems for liquid medications. ce/hs
