Schlieren/St. Paul - In future, HeiQ Synbio Cleaners are to be sold by Ecolab in the European Union, EFTA member states and the UK. In this context, HeiQ will receive an advance payment of 1.8 million euros to cover the first two years of market launch.

The technology firm HeiQ, based in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, has signed a distributor agreement with Ecolab Inc. for the supply of HeiQ Synbio Cleaners, further details of which can be found in a press release. The distributor agreement with Ecolab, a global supplier of solutions and services in the areas of water, hygiene and infection prevention headquartered in St. Paul in the US State of Minnesota, initially covers a period of five years. Under the terms of the agreement, Ecolab is to offer its customers cleaning products developed on the basis of the HeiQ Synbio technology platform, as the press release explains. Ecolab operates in more than 160 countries and employs over 40,000 people worldwide.

HeiQ will receive an initial advance payment of 1.8 million euros to cover the investments required for the first two years of market launch. If successful, additional minimum orders will be activated for the following three years, generating minimum revenues of 11 million euros overall as a result. Ecolab will have exclusive B2B cleaning distribution rights for the European Union, EFTA members (Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway) and the United Kingdom.

“This agreement validates the disruptive qualities of our HeiQ Synbio industrial biotech platform and its innovative first mover position in the market”, comments Carlo Centonze, co-founder and CEO, HeiQ, in the press release. The partnership with Ecolab has the potential to open up both additional new markets and applications areas.

HeiQ, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), is headquartered at the IJZ, an innovation and start-up park located in Schlieren. The company is also a member of Start Smart Schlieren. ce/gba
