Dübendorf/Tokyo - Japanese company Terra Drone and the Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich are set to collaborate on drone research and development (R&D) in future. This is the first Memorandum of Understanding that the Innovation Park Zurich has signed with a non-Swiss company from this sector.

The Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich, which is based in Dübendorf near Zurich, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tokyo-based Terra Drone Corporation. The two organizations plan to work together to achieve advancements in drone technology R&D. According to a Terra Drone press release, this is the first MOU that the Innovation Park Zurich has signed with a drone company based outside Switzerland.

With over 500 employees, Terra Drone operates in 11 global regions and specializes in drones and urban air mobility. In 2023, global market research institute Drone Industry Insights placed Terra Drone in second place in the category “Top Remote Sensing Service Providers”.

Explaining its reasons for signing an MOU with the Innovation Park Zurich, the Japanese company points to the fact that Switzerland is a global leader in innovation and has held the top spot in the Global InnovationIndex for 13 consecutive years. Terra Drone emphasizes that this agreement will enable it to work with universities and startups within the Innovation Park Zurich’s extensive network. It will also, says the company, facilitate partnerships between universities, industry and government, encourage joint projects and support spin-off companies, particularly in fields such as robotics and mobility. ce/mm
