The Transparency Center which opened in Zurich on Tuesday enables “authorised partners to access reviews of the company’s code, software updates and threat detection rules” Kaspersky Lab reported in a press release. In addition, governments and partners will receive information on Kaspersky products and their security.
By choosing Zurich, Kaspersky is recognising that “Switzerland is among the world’s top locations in terms of the number of secure internet servers available”. The press release highlights “it has an international reputation as an innovative centre for data processing and high-quality IT infrastructure”. Liv Minder, Investment Promotion Director from Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), is also pleased with the choice of location: “The settlement of Kaspersky’s Transparency Center in Switzerland underlines that our country has become a global centre for innovation and technology with a strong cyber security cluster.”
In addition to opening the new Transparency Center, Kaspersky has decided to only process all threat-related data coming from European users in two data centres in Zurich from now on. In this way, the company intends to increase the resilience of its IT infrastructure to “risks of data breaches and supply-chain attacks”. The relocation of data processing for other regions will follow and software assembly will also move to Zurich in the next phase. “The relocation of key parts of our infrastructure to Switzerland places them in one of the most secure locations in the world,” commented CEO Eugene Kaspersky.
