Wyss Zurich receives donation of 100 million Swiss francs
Zurich - The Swiss businessman Hansjörg Wyss has donated a further 100 million Swiss francs to the Wyss Zurich Translational Center. Following an initial donation in 2014, the joint UZH and ETH center’s work supporting startups in the fields of medicine and robotics is secured for the next few years.
Planted doubles production
Kemptthal - Planted has invested in the expansion and modernization of its production site in the Greater Zurich Area. The plant-based meat substitute manufacturer is increasing the factory’s capacity from 500 kilograms to more than 1 metric ton per hour. More office buildings and research laboratories are being planned.
Brain inspires computer component
Zurich - Swiss scientists are creating electronic circuits that emulate neuron function in the human brain. Unlike previous conventional memristors, they for the first time combine data storage and processing in a single electronic component type.
Innosuisse supports medical training simulators
Bern/Zurich - Innosuisse has awarded a grant of 12 million Swiss francs over the next four years in support of the PROFICIENCY project for surgical simulation. Project partners include several companies and universities from the Greater Zurich Area, such as Microsoft Schweiz.

Zug/Chapel Hill - Aesara is establishing a new branch office in the Greater Zurich Area this May. The North American market access agency sees becoming a part of the European biopharmaceutical cluster in Switzerland as a key strategic step.
BC Platforms cooperating with three Finnish biobanks
Zurich - BC Platforms has been awarded a contract to collaborate with three clinical biobanks in Finland. This will secure access to the health data of around 2 million Finnish citizens through the Global Data Partner Network operated by BC Platforms for personalized medicine and drug development activities.
Moon robot from Zurich enters final round of ESA competition
Zurich - The robot dog GLIMPSE from the UZH and ETH has reached the final round of a competition from the European Space Agency and the European Space Resources Innovation Center, winning 75,000 euro. The champion stands to gain 550,000 euro.
Deep Breath Intelligence wins Zug Startup Award
Rotkreuz/Zug - Deep Breath Intelligence has received the Zug Startup Award 2022. The startup specializes in early disease detection via molecular analysis of exhaled breath. Second place was awarded to Schadstoffcheck, while third place was taken by ImmoTrack.
