Migros acquires the start-up bestsmile
Zurich/Winterthur - The Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund has agreed a takeover deal for the Greater Zurich Area start-up bestsmile. The acquired firm is a specialist in 3D-printed transparent braces. Following this successful exit, the three founders are set to withdraw from the operating business.
Steinfels Swiss lays foundation stone for new factory
Winterthur - Steinfels Swiss laid the foundation stone for its new production building in the Greater Zurich Area on March 30. The new building will increase the capacity of the Coop subsidiary specializing in sustainable cosmetics and hygiene products. Steinfels Swiss is investing 35 million Swiss francs in this.
Numab receives up to 258 million Swiss francs for license
Wädenswil/Osaka - Numab Therapeutics based in the Greater Zurich Area has licensed a multispecific antibody candidate against cancer to the Japanese company Ono Pharmaceutical. This has arisen as a result of a collaboration between the two companies. In return, Numab will receive up to 258 million Swiss francs.
ETH and UZH among winners of lunar robotics challenge

Above pre-Corona level: 125 successful investment projects create 582 new jobs
The investment promotion agency Greater Zurich Area Ltd (GZA), together with its partners from the economic development offices, attracted 125 companies from abroad to the nine cantons of Greater Zurich Area in 2021 – 40 percent more than in the previous year. With this, the pre-crisis level was reached after the Corona-related decline in investment projects in 2020.
Investors pledge 80 million dollars to Yokoy
Zurich - Yokoy has increased its capital base by 80 million US dollars following a successful financing round. It was led by the Californian venture capital firm Sequoia. Vail Resorts invests in Andermatt and Sedrun
Andermatt/Broomfield - The year-round Swiss ski destination of Andermatt-Sedrun, which is located in the Greater Zurich Area, is set to benefit from a significant growth boost: Vail Resorts has acquired a 55 percent stake in Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG. The world’s leading operator of ski areas, based in the US State of Colorado, is investing a sum of approximately 149 million Swiss francs in the ski region.
ETH researchers unlock the secret to cell rejuvenation
Zurich - Microbiology researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich have succeeded in implanting cell components of living cells in other cells. This could be used to rejuvenate stem cells, for example. However, above all, this technique opens the door to new opportunities in the area of basic research.
