Dübendorf ZH – The new office unit Sprint at NEST, the modular research and innovation building of the two Swiss research institutes Empa and Eawag was inaugurated on Tuesday. It was constructed in a short time period and largely using recycled materials and parts.

Zurich - The start-up Nemosia has received funding in the amount of 150,000 Swiss francs from Venture Kick for the development of an NMDA tracer. This would make it possible to detect at an early stage the onset of neurological degenerations including Alzheimer’s or multiple sclerosis before a person even displays symptoms.
Hengrui establish new research center
Zurich - The Chinese life sciences firm Hengrui Pharma is to establish a research and development center in Zurich. In so doing, the company has opted for the new Manufakt8048 business park as its location. Hengrui was won over by the talent pool and research institutions, among other aspects, that the Greater Zurich Area has to offer.
TTS Inova wins Schaffhausen innovation prize
Schaffhausen - An elastic geothermal probe from TTS Inova won first place in the Schaffhauser Platzbanken innovation award. Imnoo AG and Savvy Telematic Systems follow in second and third place respectively. The Tanne Schaffhausen restaurant was also presented with a special award.
Hackathon event
Zurich - The largest blockchain hackathon in Switzerland will attempt to find effective solutions to specific issues at the end of October. The hybrid event will take place simultaneously in Zurich, Lugano and Geneva. Around 500 participants are expected to take part.
New capital for Sleepiz
Zurich - The MedTech start-up Sleepiz has secured investment of 4.4 million Swiss francs as part of a Series A financing round. The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich intends to use this fresh capital injection to expand its portfolio of contactless monitoring devices for chronic respiratory diseases.
University of Zurich opens new lab building
Zurich - The University of Zurich opened its new lab building at the Irchel Campus on Friday. The Institutes for Chemistry, Biomedicine and Evolutionary Biology will all be housed under one roof there.
