The Swiss system provider for the production of three-dimensional composites, 9T Labs, has been collaborating with ANSYS. Together with the technical simulation company based in Pennsylvania, 9T Labs is now offering an integrated design and simulation workflow. This aims to support manufacturers in decreasing component weight, material waste, and thereby also reducing costs. To do this, new geometries and fiber layups are found.
The solutions create synergy between the software offered by both companies, helping engineers to create the best lightweight components by 3D printing without producing or testing them first. This enables a new interface in the ANSYS software to directly import complex fiber layups that have been created in 9T Labs’ Fibrify software and automatically convert them into a finite element model.
Following this, Fibrify allows users to connect to 9T Labs equipment, start production and monitor the process. Both companies will present their solution on May 12th-14th at the JEC World trade show in Paris.
9T Labs was founded 2018 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). Its products are used in the aerospace and in the medtech industry as well as for the production of luxury goods, among others.
