Manno/Lugano - The Italian food giants Barilla and Lavazza have launched the FoodTech Innovation Award 2022 in conjunction with Loomish, an investment firm based in the Greater Zurich Area. The initiative first came into being at the Ticino LifestyleTech Competence Center.

Barilla and Lavazza have launched the FoodTech Innovation Award 2022 within the framework of the LifestyleTech Competence Center (LTCC). Both companies are members of the organization based in Manno in the canton of Ticino that helps to bring together companies with academic partners to connect creativity, consumer trends, technology and companies in the lifestyle industries.

[The FoodTech Innovation Award] opens up a range of opportunities for industry leaders to explore the latest innovations.
Carlo Terreni - President LTCC

The two Italian companies are cooperating to this end with the investment firm Loomish from Lugano, likewise in the canton of Ticino. The initiative is being supported by Accenture, Microsoft and UBS, among others, while the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) and Università della Svizzera italiana (USI: University of Italian Switzerland) are partners of the initiative.

For the FoodTech Innovation Award 2022, innovative solutions are being sought in two categories. The first aims to increase customer loyalty and integrate multiple channels. The second is about data intelligence and automation. Applications can be submitted until September 4, with the finalists set to be announced on October 3. The final pitch in front of a jury will take place at the award ceremony on October 26 in Zurich.

“I am very pleased that we are launching the second edition of the FoodTech Innovation Award today”, comments Carlo Terreni, President of the LTCC and responsible for cooperations at Loomish. The search for ideas and talent “opens up a range of opportunities for industry leaders to explore the latest innovations”, while also enabling investors to take a closer look at the future of the food retail sector.
