The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and the SwissThai Chamber of Commerce (STCC) are keen to collaborate in the future. To this end, the two parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. ETH Zurich will contribute to the program via its status as the Leading House for the bilateral science and technology cooperation program of Switzerland with China, Japan and South Korea in addition to the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The program is supported by the Swiss Federal Council and will run until 2024.
The partnership between ETH Zurich and the STCC should now primarily make it easier for students at Swiss universities, universities of applied sciences and universities of teacher education to take up internships in Thailand, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the STCC. These internships can be completed at STCC member firms.
Ignazio Cassis, Member of the Swiss Federal Council, was also present at the signing ceremony. He is on a business trip in South-East Asia until August 6. Moreover, Helene Budliger Artieda, Swiss Ambassador to Thailand, and Bijay Singh, Global Head Healthcare Business Unit at the Zurich-based market expansion group DKSH Switzerland, were also in attendance. DKSH is one of the founding members of the STCC and will also be the first company to offer an internship under the terms of the new program.
