The Zurich-based company iniVation has been awarded a Best of Innovation prize at CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics trade fair, held in Las Vegas. The firm’s latest product, DVXplorer, was honored in the “Embedded Vision” category. According to information included in a press release, this product is the world’s first neuromorphic camera. The press release explains how the DVXplorer “provides unprecedented extreme capabilities, including real-time sub-millisecond response latency and ultra-high dynamic range”. Neuromorphic systems use models of the human nervous system.
The secret to the performance of this camera is a patented neuromorphic pixel design, which emulates key aspects of the human retina. As iniVation explains, professionals around the world are already using the technology behind DVXplorer to build high-performance machine vision applications in the robotics, aerospace and automotive sectors. This technology also offers new application potential in terms of high-speed automation as well. Now, all consumers can enjoy access to this technology.
iniVation develops neuromorphic image processing systems. According to information from the company itself, its “bio-inspired intelligent technology offers unprecedented advantages over conventional machine vision systems: ultra-low response latency, low data rates, high dynamic range and ultra-low power consumption”.
