Lakera has successfully concluded a series A funding round with 20 million US dollars. Together with the 10 million US dollars brought in by a seed financing round just a few months ago, the total of investments received to date has increased to 30 million US dollars. According to a statement of the company, the latest round was led by Atomico, a venture capital company that is active across Europe. Citi Ventures, the venture capital arm of Citibank, and Dropbox, which both are located in San Francisco, were also involved as well as existing investors including redalpine from Berlin.
In Lakera's own words, the company offers the world’s most advanced security platform for business applications of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in real time. It implements proprietary AI guardrails so that the model cannot be manipulated while not limiting the interactivity of the applications.
Donald Tucker, Head of Corporate Development and Ventures at the investor Dropbox, commented: “Lakera's team has extensive expertise and a deep understanding of the complex security challenges companies are facing with LLMs and Generative AI. Their advanced technology is helping companies like Dropbox safeguard against vulnerabilities these new technologies pose.”
Lakera plans to use this funding round to expedite its product development and market launch strategy. Additionally, it aims to significantly expand its presence in the USA and Europe, in particular its San Francisco and Zurich based offices, “to address market demand.” ce/mm
