Synthara AG from Zug has won the ZKB Pionierpreis Technopark 2023 amounting to 100,000 Swiss francs. The spin-off from the University of Zurich won over the jury with an innovative computer chip. According to a press release, this involves embedding processing in the memory, which leads to a 50-fold increase in processing power and efficiency.
The chip can be built into wearable devices, cell phones, drones, or autonomous vehicles, to mention a few examples. According to the jury, it contributes to “the shaping and controlling of rapid developments” in the field of artificial intelligence. Overall, the development offers new perspectives for resource-saving information technology.
The two joint finalists MUVON Therapeutics from Zurich and AgroSustain from Renens in the canton of Vaud have each received an award of 10,000 Swiss francs. MUVON Therapeutics has developed a therapy for building muscle tissue, which contributes to the regeneration of skeletal muscles. AgroSustain is working on a coating to keep fruit and vegetables fresh for longer.
The ZKB Pionierpreis Technopark has been awarded by Zurich’s cantonal bank, Zürcher Kantonalbank, and the Technopark Zürich every year since 2001. This year, 46 startups applied for the award. ce/ssp
