Manno TI - iWin has won 10,000 Swiss francs from Venture Kick. The spin-off from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland develops window blinds containing photovoltaic cells.

iWin, a startup company from Ticino, has developed a window solution that integrates thin film photovoltaic cells into window blinds. As well as producing renewable energy, it protects buildings from overheating in the summer and reduces energy bills. iWin describes the system as durable and claims that it repays the initial cost in less than 10 years.

The new solution has already been put forward for patent, and with the first prototype validated thanks to simulation analysis, iWin is working with an industrial partner to explore manufacturing feasibility.

In a further success, iWin has now won 10,000 Swiss francs in the Venture Kick competition. These funds will finance activities related to the implementation of the business plan, such as market analysis and participation in trade fairs and competitions.

iWin is a spin-off from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). In September, it moved into Tecnopolo Ticino in Manno.
