Zweifel-Pomy Chips AG is the winner of this year’s Prix SVC Zurich Economic Area award. The “chips pioneer” from Zurich, which has a production site in Spreitenbach in the canton of Argau, won the award thanks to its unconventional and innovative ideas that put the company “among Switzerland’s top brands”, according to the Swiss Venture Club.
Second place went to HeiQ Materials AG, a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and a member of Start Smart Schlieren. Based in the innovation and start-up centre IJZ Schlieren, HeiQ develops innovative textile technologies. Medipack AG from Schaffhausen, which offers packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, came in third place.
Of the around 100 companies that made it to the selection process, six made it as finalists at the awards ceremony in the Zurich Hallenstadion events hall on Thursday. The three other finalists were also honored at the event: healthcare logistics company Cosanum from Schlieren, active focusable contact lens manufacturer Optotune AG from Dietikon, and construction services provider Toggenburger Unternehmungen from Winterthur.
“We are very pleased with the nomination. Who would have thought we would make it to the finalists’ round the first time we took part,” said Bruno Schefer, head coach at Cosanum.
The Swiss Venture Club presents its Prix SVC Zurich Economic Area award to exemplary SMEs that “stand out with their innovative products and services, corporate culture, quality of their employees and management, as well as their sustainable track record”. Nominees must also demonstrate strong roots in the region.
