The planned InnoQube Innovation Center in Chur is to offer space for start-ups, industry, commerce and the service and tourism industry. It is also supposed to be a center for research and development with international appeal. It will be operated by InnoQube Swiss AG, which has been founded for this purpose.
InnoQube has already acquired leading companies such as Red Bull and Würth ITensis as partners. Now a further milestone has been revealed, namely the IT giant Microsoft is going to become a partner of the Innovation Center. According to a press release, the corporation will conduct research in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) in Chur. “We are pleased about the collaboration. InnoQube Swiss is important for Switzerland, since it provides a platform for attracting people who want to tackle important issues together with creativity and courage”, says Marianne Janik, CEO Microsoft Switzerland.
President of InnoQube Franco Quinter says that with Microsoft InnoQube will be even better connected. Thanks to the cooperation with the IT giant, a link will be created with the Mia Engiadina project, with the newly created InnHub in La Punt GR and with TheCircle at Zurich airport. “From the outset, we wanted the innovation center in Chur to be a network at national and international level and not simply an isolated solution”, explains Quinter.
Currently the planning application for the innovation center is being prepared together with the city of Chur. The aim is to start building work before the end of this year. The useful space is supposed to be 9340 square meters and the center should provide around 300 jobs. A total of 30 million Swiss francs is to be invested.
