Zurich Airport has received the prestigious World Travel Award for the best airport in Europe for the 16th time in succession. The Award was presented by the London-based media company World Travel Awards, which rates criteria including customer satisfaction and the general quality standards achieved by products and services. The winner is crowned based on online votes cast by travel experts and the general public.
Zurich Airport has remained unbeaten in its category every year since 2004, when the World Travel Awards first named it Europe’s best airport. Stephan Widrig, CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG, highlighted in a press release that this consistently good showing is thanks also to all the companies located at the airport: “The award is a great honor and is recognition for the excellent cooperation between all our airport partners.”
Flughafen Zürich AG states that the performance of Zurich Airport can be credited to around 27,000 employees at more than 280 partner companies. With total passengers of 31,113,488 in 2018, Zurich Airport surpassed the 31 million mark for the first time.
