The start-up Gilytics has developed a software solution that makes it easier to plan linear infrastructure projects such as electricity power lines and railways. The solution works on the basis of geodata and geographic information systems.

The Zurich-based start-up Gilytics is aiming to make life easier for energy and engineering offices. It has developed a software solution that allows smart planning processes to be integrated in linear infrastructure projects. Using geodata and geographic information systems (GIS), Gilytics is able to produce marked-out routes for electricity power lines, pipelines, streets and roads as well as railway lines. These can be clearly depicted by way of 3D visualization technology.

The Gilytics solution means that new projects can now be visualized in a matter of seconds, something which previously would have taken months instead, a press release explains. This would also allow environmental sustainability studies, approval processes and consultations with stakeholders to be accelerated.

Gilytics is a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). The company has already trialled its solution in field tests in conjunction with organizations such as Swissgrid, SBB and Axpo. Gilytics now intends to focus on securing growth in other European countries as well as in the USA. In Europe, Gilytics is already cooperating with the network operator TenneT. In connection with its growth plans, the start-up will be seeking to get investors on board during the second quarter of 2020.
