Zurich - Sleepiz has developed a contactless sleep monitoring device, which has now been awarded the CE label. This represents confirmation that the product developed by the ETH spin-off complies with the applicable regulations.

Sleepiz has developed a medical sleep monitoring device in the form of the Sleepiz One. In contrast to the solutions available up to now, the majority of which need to be attached to the body of the patient, the device from the Zurich-based start-up functions in a contactless manner. It must only be placed next to the bed and measures data with the help of electromagnetic waves, sensor fusion and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Sleepiz One has been awarded the CE label, as outlined in a press release issued by the company. This represents confirmation that the device complies with the applicable regulations. In March, the product had already been awarded ISO certification, which confirms its status as a medical device.

The next step involves the Sleepiz One being tested in further clinical trials, Sleepiz explains. This is necessary in order for the product to be certified by the European Union as a class IIA medical device for diagnosis purposes.

Sleepiz was established as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and is headquartered in Zurich.
