Zurich – A new nanotechnology research platform has been launched in Switzerland. contactpointnano.ch pools scientific and regulatory expertise in the field of nanotechnology and connects startups, SMEs and industry.

Switzerland occupies a leading position internationally in the field of nanoresearch, writes the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). To better bring the existing knowledge in this specialized field to companies, the platform contactpointnano.ch was officially launched last week at an event held at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.

The platform seeks to pool and classify the scientific, industrial and regulatory expertise available in Switzerland and make it available to companies as needed. It will connect experts with companies and organize trainings, all with the goal of encouraging the development of innovation applications.

contactpoint.nano will be managed during a two-year pilot phase by Peter Wick, who heads the research department Particles-Biology Interactions at Empa. The initiative is supported by the federal government.
