Winterthur/Schaanwald - Electromobility company Designwerk and KAISER, a Liechtenstein company specializing in sewer cleaning and and industrial waste disposal, are starting series production of the first electric vehicle designed for sewer cleaning with water recovery. The vehicle will reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80 per cent.

Until June 9, Designwerk and KAISER are presenting the first electric sewer cleaning vehicle with water recovery at the trade fair for the public sector, Suisse Public, in Bern. According to a press release, the KAISER AquaStar EV, which is based on the Designwerk Mid Cab Sewer Cleaner, 6x2R, is entering series production.

“In our Swiss exclusive partner Designwerk, we have found an e-mobility expert that offers a fitting solution to our energy-intensive applications,” says Daniel Laubscher, CTO of the KAISER Group. For example, the vehicle has a battery capacity of up to 508 kilowatt hours, which enables it to run for up to eight hours without recharging, according to the press release. The charging capacity is up to 350 kilowatts, and the battery is fully charged in around 80 minutes.

The KAISER AquaStar EV will save 21,000 liters of diesel per year on average and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80 per cent throughout the entire life cycle, depending on the electricity mix. According to Designwerk, this makes the electric sewer cleaner attractive for private customers and local authorities seeking to improve their sustainability or operating in urban areas with CO2 limits. Thanks to water recovery and e-drive, the fully electric vehicle uses hardly any resources. ce/mm
