SWISS and SBB are further developing connections between the railways and air travel. Four new Air Rail destinations in the canton of Graubünden are to be added to the existing ones linking the SWISS route network with SBB’s offerings.
According to a press release from the two partners, the destinations of Chur and (via the Rhaetian Railway) Davos, Klosters, and St.Moritz will be easily accessible for international visitors from October 2, 2024. This means that the air travel offering now includes a total of 21 destinations across Switzerland and in Munich, Germany, and Bregenz, Austria. The new routes can be booked for travel form October 2, 2024.
The partnership between the two organizations was initially limited to a term of five years. Now, both transport companies have decided to continue their successful collaboration indefinitely. Véronique Stephan, Member of the SBB Management Board and Head of Passenger Services Markets, stated that this shows “how SBB and SWISS are jointly developing a broad range of viable travel solutions.” She added that the expanded network brings the world and Switzerland even closer together.
Destinations can be booked in combination with a SWISS flight, with the booking also applying to train travel to or from the airport. This means that travelers must only check in once to receive a boarding pass and train ticket from SWISS. SWISS and SBB expect growth in demand of 15 percent this year.
SWISS CCO Heike Birlenbach stated: “SBB and SWISS are both bywords for Swiss values, quality, and reliability. This partnership enables us to offer our customers an overall travel experience that seamlessly combines the strengths of air and rail travel.” ce/mm
