Zurich – Swiss e-government provider Procivis is collaborating with the startup Futurae to integrate artificial intelligence-based authentication into Procivis’ eID+ digital identity platform.

Zurich-based Procivis operates a digital identity platform called eID+. In June 2018, the Canton of Schaffhausen launched a digital identity solution for its residents using eID+, which allows residents to access digital public services.

Procivis has now announced that it has entered into a partnership with Futurae, a spin-off of the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, to integrate Futurae’s Zero-Touch, multi-factor authentication into the eID+ platform.

The new technology does not require any user interaction in the authentication process. It instead uses machine learning algorithms to securely authenticate the user via ambient noise, ultrasound and signal technology and is complemented by a variety of multi-factor authentication and transaction confirmation technologies.

“We are thrilled to work with Futurae as a leading innovator in the field of authentication,” said Procivis founder and CEO Daniel Gasteiger. “By combining their Zero-Touch solution with our digital identity platform, we will take digital identities to a new level in terms of ease of use.”

Existing two-factor authentication methods based on fingerprint scan, face recognition or PIN will remain available.
