Neuhausen am Rheinfall SH - Swiss Transit Lab has successfully realized a smart mobility concept in Neuhausen am Rheinfall. Among other things, a connection between a driverless bus and smart elevator was created. The project has now won the Smart City Innovation Award.
Researchers stop water freezing
Zurich – Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and the University of Zurich have developed a method that stops water turning into ice even at temperatures of minus 263 degrees Celsius. This development will help in the preservation of large biomolecules.
RUAG Space to supply Japanese launch vehicle
Zurich – Space industry supplier RUAG Space will produce structures and payload fairings for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The rocket will be used for resupply missions to the International Space Station.

Zurich – The startup MyoSwiss has developed an artificial muscle suit. This is now enabling two people with mobility impairments to take part in a marathon.
YMC acquires ETH spin-off
Zurich/Kyoto – Japanese pharma supplier YMC is acquiring ChromaCon AG. The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) develops and commercializes equipment for laboratories and industry. The existing employees will be retained.
Partnership takes digital identity to new level
Zurich – The e-government specialist Procivis is joining forces with Skribble. The plan is to integrate legally binding electronic signatures into the eID+ platform for digital identification from Procivis. This will make it possible to sign documents on a mobile phone.
ETH concludes a successful year
Zurich – Student numbers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) increased by 3.8 percent in 2018. Several projects were also realized last year, including a joint research lab with Microsoft.
