Kloten/Norderstedt/Munich - Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND) has had its AI-supported maintenance application evaluated by Calvin Risk and TÜV SÜD. The review examined whether the airline’s risk management is compatible with the EU AI Act.

Calvin Risk, which is located in Kloten in the Swiss canton of Zurich, has worked with Munich-based TÜV Süd to evaluate the AI-supported maintenance application developed by Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND). Calvin Risk, which specializes in evaluating AI risks, explains in a press release that the checks focused on whether the German airline’s risk management is compatible with the European regulation on artificial intelligence (EU AI Act). The evaluation by Calvin Risk and TÜV SÜD showed that key requirements of the EU AI Act are met.

LHIND’s maintenance application revolutionizes technical fleet management by supporting maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and quality assurance, explains Michael Koch, Director of AI at LHIND, in an LHIND press release. Making use of text documents, images and videos, the application aims to streamline decision-making, increase efficiency and reduce costs, according to the press release.

“With the world's first AI regulation, the European Parliament is setting guard rails that companies can use as a guide,” says Julian Riebartsch, CEO and co-founder of AI specialist Calvin Risk. “This provides a reliable framework for the development of intelligent chatbots. Compliance with the EU AI Act should be considered from the outset and can be ensured with the Evidence Management Tool.”

Calvin Risk was founded in 2022 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). ce/eb
