Digital Republic, a startup from Zurich, develops business support solutions for SIM-card-based data networks. With its new partner Conrad Electronic Schweiz, it now plans to expand its business idea across Europe, according to an article on startupticker.ch.
The SIM cards developed by Digital Republic have operated on the Sunrise mobile network since November. However, they are not limited to use in mobile phones. Different devices now use SIM cards – from alarms to solar panels and GPS trackers. In response to this development, Digital Republic founders Marco Arnold and Ali Soy conceived their business idea in 2016.
The former Swisscom employees entered the market via Digitec Galaxus. Digitec, which describes itself as the Swiss market leader for online retail in IT, entertainment electronics and telecommunications, sells the Digital Republic SIMs on the Galaxus platform. Since June, electrical wholesaler Otto Fischer has also been a Digital Republic client.
Thanks to its partnership with Conrad Schweiz, Digital Republic hopes to reach more customers in Europe. The German family company is globally active but does not offer SIMs abroad. “In just a few weeks, the sim.conrad.ch portal will officially launch,” said Marco Arnold. “Naturally we hope this will bring the desired added value to our customers and the customers of our customers.”
