Some of the startups that will be moving into the new The Block co-working office space include Melonport, ShapeShift, Etherisc, Cardano, Cofound.it and Bitmain, as was reported in a press release. What’s more, The Block will also be home to the headquarters of Crypto Valley Association and Crypto-Fonds.
Projects from academic institutions such as the ETH will also be based in the co-working offices. In addition, The Block offers networking opportunities by hosting events such as the “ETH Zurich meets Startups” series, where startups can talk to experts from the university. “We want to put our heads together with the field to discuss the impact of this technology and discover how the ecosystem can be supported as a whole,” comments Lothar Diele, digital transformation specialist at the ETH.
The Block will also offer other services in the areas of finance, law, compliance and consulting. “From my own experience, I know how difficult it is for startups to find the right support,” explains co-founder Mathias Ruch. The aim is to help startups in the swift and successful development of their business.
Crypto Valley Labs is backed by Lakeside Partners, a group of experienced entrepreneurs who provide funding for early stage companies, the blockchain company Blockhaus and a team of cryptocurrency specialists in consulting firm MME. This concept is aimed at creating shared offices for blockchain startups with a token-based payment system. The Block is the first such office space in Zug, but similar hubs are planned all over the world.
