Zurich/Volketswil ZH – AI First and Fabrimex Systems from the Greater Zurich Area are developing a new software to find faults in products on production lines. Machine learning is the basis for the development.

AI First and Fabrimex Systems are developing a new software for quality assurance in factories. The product, fs-vision, uses machine learning to find faults in products on production lines in real-time, according to a statement. Working with the software is a camera that picks up small defects, such as an eyelash on a product. The technology can even be used with tiny pieces no bigger than 100 millimeters x 80 millimeters, write the partners.

Thanks to the technology, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can accelerate their entire supply chain while also reducing costs, claims the statement. “Most OEMs have existing standards and know-how when it comes to measuring the quality of their products. Machine learning takes this expertise and uses it to automate many of the manual steps that are still part of the quality assurance process in the finishing industry,” explains Nithin Mathews, Business Developer at AI First.

AI First, which is headquartered in Zurich, is a joint venture company belonging to 4Quant and Netcetera. It was founded in spring 2019 to drive the prevalence of artificial intelligence applications in Switzerland. FabrimexSystems AG from Volketswil offers services and products in the fields of Industrial PC, MachineVision and Deep Learning.
