Schlieren ZH - InSphero is moving to a new head office at Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich. As a result, the company will have almost double the lab and office space at its disposal. The biotech start-up, which specializes in 3D micro-tissue solutions, intends to drive forward research and development (R&D) activities from its new headquarters.

At the start of July, InSphero is set to relocate its headquarters within Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, as detailed in a press release. The new head office will offer cutting-edge laboratory and office space covering an area almost double the size of the start-up’s current premises at the facility.

InSphero is planning to use this move to lay the foundations for further growth. The aim here is primarily to expand its scientific research activities and drive forward business development.

InSphero is a spin-off from the University of Zurich (UZH) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). The company develops 3D micro-tissue solutions that can be used in drug development applications. One of its most successful 3D micro-tissue solutions is a model of a human liver. The 3D InSight Human Liver Microtissues are used to test the toxic effect of drugs.

Jan Lichtenberg, CEO of InSphero, described the move to new headquarters as an important milestone in the company’s history. It marks “the next step in our evolution as an innovative biotech that is redefining traditional drug discovery and safety testing paradigms for the pharmaceutical industry”, he comments.

According to the press release, InSphero has signed a long-term contract with Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich. This could even be extended at some point in the next three to five years’ time.

At Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, companies operating in the field of Life Sciences can rent laboratories, office space and complex infrastructure for R&D activities. According to its own information, the facility is currently home to 45 companies and institutions affiliated with universities. Many of these are spin-offs from local universities. /ssp
