IDUN Technologies has gained the venture capitalist firm Joyance Partner as investor. The start-up is developing sensors for wearable devices.

IDUN Technologies has enjoyed a successful market launch for Dryode, its first ever product. The company, which is a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), specializes in sensors for wearable devices. Dryode is a soft, flexible dry electrode that facilitates highly accurate biopotential monitoring (ECG, EMG, EEG) with an “unobtrusive user experience”, as detailed in an article on startupticker.ch.

The seed round, in which access to start-up financing is available, was closed one month ago with Sony. Now, IDUN Technologies has gained the US venture capital firm Joyance Partners as a new investor. The unobtrusive user experience, referring to the way in which wearers are barely aware that they are in fact wearing electrodes, fits in with the Joyance approach of investing in companies to provide or contribute towards “delightful moments”. This phrase focuses on the “small and delightful moments that can make a big difference in people's everyday lives”, explains Paolo Pio, Managing Director at Joyance Partners Europe, in the article. He adds: “We are looking forward to supporting IDUN with our in-house experts in neuro-tech and digital health and a vast network of experienced investors”. Joyance is not only providing financial support, but also its expertise, and has added another Swiss start-up in the form of IDUN to its portfolio alongside Planted Foods.

Simon Bachmann, CEO of IDUN Technologies, was also quoted in the article: “We see Joyance as a strong strategic partner for developing products that the world needs now and in the future, as we develop towards a highly connected society. We plan to strengthen our competencies in neuroscience and the specifics of how music and meditation affect our brain health”.

According to CEO Bachmann, the next project for IDUN Technologies will be focused on the development of an electrode for scalp EEG and in-ear EEG.
