Bicycle parking tower impresses investors

V-Locker AG has successfully completed a financing round in which a dozen business angels invested in the company, according to a press release.

The startup from Dübendorf has developed a space-saving solution for parking bicycles with its “bicycle towers”, which can accommodate up to 20 bicycles. This means that up to 60 bicycles can be parked on the area of one just car parking space. According to Head of Technology Marco Müller, no other comparable system is capable of achieving this storage density.

The bicycle towers feature an integrated elevator system and even offers space for storing bags, helmets and protective cycling clothing. The towers are operated with a standard plastic card, the Swisspass or with an app that can also be used to locate towers and reserve spaces.

V-Locker intends to use the new capital to help develop a project with SBB that aims to test the bicycle tower at the Münchenbuchsee train station in the canton of Bern. The company also wants to optimize its product and reduce production costs. To this end, it plans to hold a second financing round towards the end of the year.
