Skyscrapers to generate solar power
Manno TI/Schlieren ZH – Special blinds are being developed by iWin that are able to generate solar energy. In the first instance, the hope is these will be installed in the windows of high-rise buildings. The startup has now won 150,000 Swiss francs from Venture Kick, which it will use to prepare for market entry.
Baloise Group invests in Houzy
Zurich/Basel – On the back of UBS, the Baloise Group is now also investing in Houzy. This has enabled the start-up to successfully close a Series A financing round. Houzy impressed with its technology platform for homeowners.  
ETH Zurich to offer regularly a Bachelor of Medicine
Zurich – From the point of view of both course administrators and students alike, the Bachelor of Medicine degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) has certainly been a worthwhile exercise. From 2021 onwards, this degree course is to become a regular feature of the range of courses offered by ETH.  
Seervision awarded three grants by the EU
Zurich - Seervision, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, has received grants from three separate European Union funding programs. With these grants totaling in excess of 2.5 million Swiss francs, Seervision is planning to expand its software for the automation of video production processes. This should help companies to improve communications during the pandemic.  
CareerLunch awarded financial grant
Baar ZG - CareerLunch has been awarded a grant in the amount of 150,000 thousand Swiss francs from Venture Kick. The start-up offers a recruitment platform that brings together job applicants and companies over informal lunches.  
British unicorn launches DeepCode takeover bid
Zurich/London – The UK company Snyk is taking over DeepCode, a spin-off from ETH Zurich. The start-up has developed a platform based on Artificial Intelligence that is able to detect security loopholes in coding.  
Acronis and SIT to take part in Roborace
The Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT) and the software development firm Acronis are entering their own team in Roborace. This is an international championship for autonomous electric cars.
Voliro raises fresh capital for its flying robots
Zurich – Using the fresh capital generated in a financing round, Voliro will be able to accelerate the development of its flying robots to industrial grade quality. The flying robots are designed to make inspections and maintenance operations at industrial facilities both easier and safer.

Zurich/Geneva – Regtech company Indigita and the Institute for Studies in Finance & Banking (ISFB) are teaming up to develop new e-learning compliance courses for financial institutions.
