Zurich – Elon Musk’s Hyperloop competition will not take place this year. Nonetheless, Swissloop’s team has still presented a new transport pod. The lack of time pressure meant they were able to really refine the linear motor. Swissloop has also been hosting seminars to discuss the technology behind the pods.
ETH signs up to Artificial Intelligence network
Zurich – A group of 30 European research institutes are joining forces under the ELLIS network. Their aim is to create a trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) framework. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) is a founding member of the network. It is also set to open its own AI center this October.

Molecular Partners has developed an innovative production process for its drug aimed at combating the coronavirus. This enables the compound to be manufactured at scale. MP0420 is designed to act more aggressively against coronaviruses than antibodies.

Researchers at ETH Zurich and the University of Bern have together discovered how the coronavirus manipulates human cells. This discovery should help with the development of drugs and vaccines to combat the virus.
Lindt Home of Chocolate set to strengthen location
Kilchberg ZH – The Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate competence center is designed to impart knowledge with regard to chocolate and promote Switzerland as a location of chocolate. In addition to research facilities, an open-view production line and a museum, the Lindt Home of Chocolate will tempt visitors with a chocolate fountain.
Turicode brings new investors on board
Winterthur - Turicode has closed its first financing round and raised a total of 2.2 million Swiss francs. The experts in document processing based on Machine Learning and Deep Learning successfully gained BackBone Ventures, SeedX and the Swiss Startup Group as investors, among others.  
Crealogix joins forces with IBM
Zurich – The fintech firm Crealogix has entered into a partnership with the US IT company IBM. Together, the two companies are aiming to help banks accelerate digital transformation processes.  
Electronics to come out of printers
Dübendorf ZH – In future, it will be possible to print electronic components on flexible substrates such as paper or polymer. Applications such as sensors on milk cartons are therefore conceivable. Empa researchers are working to overcome the hurdles that remain.
