Scientists develop extreme miniaturized infrared detectors
Dübendorf - Scientists led by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) in the canton of Zurich have developed a process for the miniaturization of infrared spectrometers. This miniaturization allows for integration in ultra-small satellites and can be used to detect counterfeit medicines.
Zurich Airport implements expanded winter timetable
Kloten - The new winter timetable at Zurich Airport includes flights to Hong Kong again after an absence of two years. The first Ethiopian Airlines flight from Zurich to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, is also scheduled for take-off on October 31.

Zurich/Altdorf - Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group and Datwyler IT Infra are testing a data center housed in a construction container on a building site. The Q-tainer provides a 5G network and WiFi. It is intended to collect large amounts of data and therefore generate efficiency gains for construction site management processes.
Jua launches weather forecasting service powered by AI
Pfäffikon - According to information from the company itself, Jua has launched the first global, high-resolution weather model with deep learning technology on the market. These forecasts should offer a significant improvement on existing approaches.
